The Banks Family | Lifestyle Family Session | Melissa DeWitt Photography Northeast Indiana Photographer

After Jim was sworn in as an Indiana State Senator, Jim had to serve in Afghanistan until May 2015. While he was serving our country he suggested the best candidate to represent the district in his absence would be his wife. Making it a first in Indiana history, Amanda filled her husbands seat while he served in Afghanistan...all while still being a wonderful mama to their three daughters . So inspiring... and just all around amazing, huh?

Hannah | New Haven High School | Senior Portraits | Melissa DeWitt Photography North East Indiana Photographer

Hannah had a lot of soft colors which coordinated well with the moody sky.  In fact, I really think the moody sky gave us some awesome light and neat texture in the sky. Besides the occasional goosebumps from the chilly wind, Hannah never looked cold in her images. She was a pro.

Madi | Columbia City High School Senior | Senior Portraits| Melissa DeWitt Photography North East Indiana Photographer

After we took the first few shots near the purple trees it started to pour down rain. It poured so hard I thought it was hailing! We drove to our second location biting our nails the whole time while I cursed the weather. By the time we arrived at our second location the skies cleared up and we were able to shoot her entire session with new problem. Phew.

Piper | Playing Spy | Melissa DeWitt Photography | Childrens Photographer North East Indiana

Believe it or not, our shoot was suppose to be a "fairy" theme but Indiana decided to be cold and windy on Piper's session date. Piper's closet must be amazing because her mother quickly sent me images of this set up she has been wanting photographed! Are you kidding me?! How awesome is that? I need Piper's mom as my personal shopper asap.

Jason + Amanda | A Wedding Story | Melissa DeWitt Photography | Fort Wayne Indiana Wedding Photographer

Amanda literally smiled her beautiful smile from ear to ear the whole entire day. It was a goregous day, the warmest day yet this Spring, and ended with the bestest sunset buttery light ever. Simple elegant details made just enough of a statement but the couple, of course, made the biggest statement of them all.

Spring Mini Sessions for Haiti | Children Photographer | North East Indiana

This has been on my heart for quite awhile now, I just didn't know where to go with it, but now I do. I will be holding Mini Sessions on these dates and all proceeds will go toward funding Mission Trips to Haiti and toward building two new rooms for a few specific families in Haiti. If you want to donate to this cause instead of holding a session, donations are welcomed, too. Please contact me to book a Spring Mini Session for Haiti or to donate to this cause.

My Children | A Lifestyle Session | Columbia City, Indiana | Melissa DeWitt Photography

I am sitting here typing out this blog wearing earphones listening to my Pandora station {Dave Matthew's Band is on playing "All Along the Watchtower"} thinking about how the tittle to their song is fitting to this blog .  All these moments I captured in this blog were here all along...and the only place I had them stored were in my mind.  I watch and spend time with  my kids every day, watching them blossom into unique individuals. Here I am with my big fancy camera not capturing a single one of them.

Cowboys and Indians | Themed Session | Melissa DeWitt Photography | Columbia City IN, Lifestyle Photographer

This session....stole my heart. I loved the theme between mother and son. I loved seeing them play out each role but yet keep their own. It wasn't your typical session, which I adore. Ellie dear, you and your sweet little Milo stole my heart with this session.

Morgan | Senior 2015 | Columbia City High School | Indiana High School Senior Photographer

Oh Morgan, you are quite the stunner. I never had to tell her to smile or give me a serious face...she just DID it, kept switching it up...I mean she was like a true model. We started on her parents gorgeous property and was welcomed by their pet turkeys, peacock, and chickens. Her wardrobe was perfect and so were the Fall colors. And man, can this girl rock some red lips.

Mr. & Mrs. DeWitt | A Wedding Story | Fort Wayne Indiana Wedding Photographer

I have never photographed a family members wedding before. It was so strange knowing almost everyone there but also a lot of fun... Ooh and let's not forget the 3 year old shadow I had half the time (my lovely daughter who was also one of the flower girls)....I am not sure how many times I stepped on her! It was so wonderful being there surrounded by family and witnessing these two tie the knot.

Children's Portraits | Columbia City, IN Childern Photographer

I love capturing that essence of freedom. Watching them laugh and run around freely you can clearly tell that children haven't experienced the weight of the world on their shoulders like us adults have...and they do not feel pressure to be anyone but their selves.

Maternity leave & Homebirth

Okay, now enough of the boring business talk :). Let's talk about this baby! I am so excited I am almost done with this pregnancy, and that is a complete understatement! In my mind I am preparing myself for this birth, and I am not sure if I WILL be fully prepared mentally BUT all the "things" I need for the homebirth are almost all purchased.

Saaaay whaaaat? Did I say "homebirth"? Yep, homebirth. I birth on my turf.

Google, Yahoo, Pinterest....Your business and the World Wide Web

Maybe I am just easily amused. I find it crazy how much STUFF can pop up when you do a simple search on Google.com or even Pinterest.com. Dare I say this...??? I remember when the Internet became its big bad self! I mean really, I remember when in Middle School we were so stoked to have computers in the library. Heck, I remember in elementary school when Oregon Trail was the most awesome game in the world! Anyone with me?
